The Patrick Lincoln missive of the month ?
All is in the merry month of May and June buds all are swelling while the entire staff at the Lincoln Gallery are so afflicted with spring fever they can barely remember to ask "Do you want fries with that?" Only I retain the presence of mind to continue the ceaseless search for beauty with which to hold chaos at bay. This month?s bulwark against Entropy was again torn from the jaws of the abyss and flung in the face of the buying public. Results are not yet in but who among us could deny the rustic western appeal of "Lance At The Wheel." The Lincoln Gallery is in The New State Motor Company building, just up the street from Nellie Bly.
Altai Leather has come up with a couple new purse designs that are bit smaller and compact to keep just those essentials of everyday use. All our bags come in beautiful spring colors to freshen up and enjoy the summer ahead.
The Spirit Art Gallery will be featuring Canadian artist, Gypsy Jane. Her style has evolved from the belief that all people have a free spirit locked inside with the desire to cavort through life; her paintings show the thoughts and moods of her spirit. Beginning with a degree in Art and Fundamentals, Gypsy Jane has designed many of her paintings with the use of mixed media, incorporating ideas and materials from her many travels. Much of her work is done using the encaustic wax process on canvas. The word "encaustic" comes from the Greek and means "to burn in." This wax process dates back to the 5th century BC, and incorporates the use of beeswax-based paint, which is heated and applied to a surface of the artist's choosing. Gypsy Jane uses this wax process in conjunction with oils and acrylics.
Pura Vida Gallery will be hosting a reception for Prescott jewelry artist Chelsea Stone during Jerome's June 6th Art Walk. Chelsea will be giving a torch-working demonstration from 5pm - 8pm that evening, showing different glass bead techniques that she integrates into her Eye Candy Jewelry line. She will also have a special viewing of her one-of-a-kind pieces, which will be for sale one night only during the Art Walk. In addition to creating jewelry for over 15 years, Chelsea also teaches classes on glass bead and jewelry making. Her work can be found in galleries throughout the country. Champagne and chocolates will be served from 5 - 8pm on the evening of the Art Walk.
?Yes We Can? is the uplifting theme chosen by the Jerome Artists Cooperative Gallery members for their annual summer membership show. Determined to survive and thrive in these sometimes uncertain economic times, the artists are moving forward, creating new and exciting works, all with affordable pricing, and chock full of ?can do? attitude that makes the United States a great land. The show opens on June 6th, from 5pm to 8pm, coinciding with the every popular First Saturday Jerome Art Walk. The festive ?star-spangled? opening gala will feature refreshments and a chance to meet local artists.
The ?Yes We Can? theme also does double-duty in it?s meaning --the gallery members plan to hold a canned food drive during the show. Canned food donations are welcome at the gallery, to be donated to local food banks. The Jerome Artists Cooperative is located at 502 Main, where Highway 89A is cleft in two. Open daily from 10am-6pm. www.jeromeartistscoop.com
